An Insatiable Commitment-Phobe Comes Full Circle

30/11/2022

In her 20s Maya escaped an abusive engagement, and ran as far away from traditional relationships as she could.  Over the years in non-monogamous relationships she learned a lot about herself and her own boundaries, and healed.  She was also able to satisfy her high sex drive and desire for sexual novelty and exploration through these non-traditional relationships.  Now, 15 years later, Maya has come full circle and is now looking for a committed, monogamous relationship and family.  She tells her story and gives advice to women wanting to satisfy their own curiosity.

I'm Dr. Leslie Wakefield, a pelvic health physical therapist. I have had the privilege of speaking to so many fascinating women through my work, and have often wished that other women could listen in and benefit. This podcast is the result of that wish.

I interview women who speak on topics of sexual function, dysfunction, and everything in between.  I speak with doctors, therapists, and other experts, about all things her-sex related.

I believe that hearing one woman be open and honest creates so many opportunities for those of us listening: We learn language, so that we can have clear conversations, even if it's only within ourselves. We may see our own experience as normal, and not something to be ashamed of. Or we may learn that we are not alone in whatever problem we are facing, and that resources are available.

Whatever the takeaway, listening to other women be open unlocks and liberates a piece of ourselves; it opens a door that cannot be shut.
