Coccyx Care

at Wellsprings Health

Coccydynia, or tailbone pain, is a frustrating condition to experience.  We sit to work, eat, relax, commute, and most activities in between!  Coccydynia may also affect the ability to exercise, go to the bathroom, or engage in sexual activity.  When the tailbone hurts it can become almost impossible to complete these  normal daily activities, and it can be equally challenging to find help.

At Wellsprings we have the experience and expertise to evaluate and treat your tailbone pain.  After years of working with coccydynia patients, we have put together a program designed to address the specific needs of this patient population.

All patients must be evaluated and approved for the program, and you will most likely need to obtain specific prescriptions from your physician in order to access all aspects of care.

Treatment modalities that may be included in your program:
  • Manual mobilization of the coccyx, internal and/or external
  • Pelvic alignment and postural balancing techniques
  • Manual muscle releases and soft tissue mobilization techniques
  • Pelvic floor therapy
  • Myofasical release
  • Iontophoresis
  • MPS Therapy
  • Coccyx, sacrococcygeal, and/or sacroiliac taping
  • Therapeutic exercises and stretching
  • Ergonomic training
  • Self treatment techniques

We also offer Yoga for Coccydynia one-on-one classes, both online and in person.  Local patients may participate as part of their program, but classes are also available to those clients who live too far to come for treatment, or who are looking for follow-up care.

Note:  we have many patients contact us with interest in traveling to South Florida for treatment.  Unfortunately due to the requirements of travel (prolonged sitting!) and the reality that most patients require a course of treatment beyond one visit, it is not usually feasible for patients to come from out of the area for care.  We recommend checking this directory of practitioners to find a therapist near you.  You can also work with us via our Yoga for Coccydynia one-on-one sessions via zoom.
